Below are some organizations we have come across during our grief journey. These organizations are specific to child/pregnancy loss and children's grief. Many will also have more resources available on their sites. This list is not comprehensive, and is only meant as one starting point for those searching for help.
Maryland Center for Infant and Child Loss -All Maryland families of children aged 0 to 16 years who die suddenly and unexpectedly are offered services at no cost. CICL, a 501 (c)(3) organization, is within the Division of Community Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, University of Maryland Baltimore, and is funded, in part, by Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and is advised on program development by the CICL Advisory Board.
Kids Grief Support - Jessica is a Certified Child Life Specialist with 16 years of experience in the healthcare setting, specializing in providing psychosocial and emotional support to children and families facing stress and anxiety related to illness, hospitalization, and the death of a loved one. “I’m here to empower caregivers, giving them the tools to support their children and teens through life’s bumps, stressors, and tragedies. Together we can give them the tools to process and find healing.”
National Alliance for Children's Grief - If you are supporting a child who is grieving, NACG is there to connect you to resources and local support. The alliance is a national organization of professionals dedicated to supporting children and the networks and communities surrounding them. Silver Leaf Counseling | silverleaf (silverleafcounseling.org) - SilverLeaf Counseling, LLC. offers a variety of counseling and services for perinatal and pediatric bereavement, perinatal and postpartum depression. This is also the only dedicated and specialized practice for Perinatal Palliative Care in MD.
Bill Sweeney Charity | Specialized Bereavement Care | Maryland - There is no mandated training for doctors, nurses, sonographers, etc. for perinatal palliative care, leaving most health care workers feeling uncomfortable and unequipped to provide quality bereavement care. Our charity is designed to allow access to perinatal palliative care, one-on-one & family counseling as well as support groups, regardless of their ability to pay.
